Really Good Soup! "Soup is the ultimate expression of nourishment and love." - Unknown This time of year, there’s nothing better than curling up with a hot bowl of soup and a slice of homemade bread. The cold has settled in for the winter—and so have we. Leelanau students have navigated the fall beautifully, finding their rhythms, friendships, and a community that feels comforting and nourishing, much like that soup. Their unique perspectives and talents have seasoned the season, enriching us all. You have enriched their experience, too. Remember the tale of stone soup we shared in October’s SPIRIT Magazine—the one that began with only a stone and a pot of boiling water? What you’ve added to the kettle this fall can only be described as deeply satisfying. Your gifts—large and small, new and recurring, steadfast and generous—have blended together to sustain our students and faculty through the winter months ahead. Your generosity has exceeded expectations and has never been more welcome. Each gift adds something essential: a carrot of creativity, a handful of joy, a pinch of courage, a sturdy potato of support. What began as a shared hope has grown into a sustaining feast of opportunity, care, and belonging for our students. This success story isn’t about fundraising. It’s about the generosity of our village—those who remember their Exploratory adventures, those who have watched their children flourish, and those who value the arts, nature, and curiosity that Leelanau brings into the lives of our students and neighbors. As we continue our shared work to sustain Leelanau, we do so with deep gratitude. The table is set, and our students are thriving—because of your contributions and care. With Hearty Thanks, Kate Olson Dir. of Alumni and Development kolson@leelanau.org or 231.334.5841 |

Last night we celebrated the close of the semester with an Après-ski–inspired Peppi Teichner tribute feast, shared with friends and family. Poutine, French onion beef roast, cheesy breads, roasted vegetables, and a dessert table sans pareil filled our souls—while laughter and twinkling ski-lift lights seasoned the evening with joy.
Big thanks to Jen Parker for the magical setting, and to a dining team that truly makes The Leelanau School the envy of the region. |

PHASE 1 IS NEARLY DONE Thanks to extraordinary generosity, patience, and the steadfast support of new and faithful friends, The Leelanau School has proudly met the Phase I fundraising goal for our Auditorium renovation. This space will serve as a cultural hub for our students and our Leelanau neighbors. Between January and March 2026, we look forward to completing key electrical and technological upgrades—including lighting, sound, projection, and webcasting. Read more in The Leelanau Ticker! Next comes Phase II, which will focus on accessibility improvements to the Auditorium and surrounding walkways, along with new flooring, refreshed seating, and updated signage. If you’d like to be part of what’s next, we’d love to hear from you. Questions? Contact Kate Olson in Development at kolson@leelanau.org. |
