A New Year, A Shared Legacy

As we stand on the threshold of another school year, I’m reminded that the story we continue to write together began long before today. The traditions you experienced—the lakeside gatherings, shared challenges, and enduring friendships—are still alive here, shaping new generations just as they shaped you. While we embrace fresh ideas and opportunities, we remain deeply committed to preserving the values and spirit that have served so many for so long.

Welcoming Students from Around the Globe

“They arrive with their hopes and fears, eager to discover the space to become who they want to be.”

There’s a special energy in these days before classes begin—summer’s golden light giving way to crisp mornings, the lake shifting in color, and our campus coming alive with voices, laughter, and the promise of new beginnings.

This year, we welcome students from all over the world, each seeking a meaningful educational experience. They bring unique stories, talents, and perspectives that enrich our community, and we meet them with open arms, ready to help them feel at home from the moment they set foot on campus.

Celebrating Our Returners

I am equally thrilled to welcome back our returning students. Watching them reconnect with friends and continue building on their successes reminds me why our mission matters so deeply. At Leelanau, we strive to model for the world a better way to learn—one rooted in curiosity, creativity, community, and care.

Looking Ahead

The year ahead is full of possibility, and I can’t wait to see how each student will leave their mark on our school—just as you did. Thank you for being part of a legacy that continues to inspire and endure.

Shine on Leelanau!

Fall 2025 Enrollment is still Possible

We're getting close to our cutoff point for Fall Term admission and enrollment, but we're making space for students who have started school elsewhere without much enthusiasm, hope, or joy.

If this is the right community for someone you know, we will work to make the application process a positive experience!

“Up until second or third grade, we learn through exploration - but at some point, education becomes ‘work.” The whole vocabulary changes. We’ve done a disservice to tell our kids that high school is a job - a job that they need to get done. That’s not an idea that should really apply to a true learning environment because learning is never done. Instead of focusing on set tasks, we should be encouraging them to ask, ‘how can I learn more?’ ”
